Why don't happy clients leave reviews on their own?

Because leaving a review takes a deliberate extra step — finding the page, writing something, submitting it — that most people forget to take once they've moved on with their day. Satisfaction doesn't automatically become action; it needs a specific, easy prompt at the right moment.

It's tempting to read a low review count as a sign the work wasn't good enough to mention, but in practice the two are largely unrelated — plenty of genuinely happy customers simply never get asked, or get asked in a way that's too much friction to follow through on.
